This is the longest gap between blog posts so far. But it's not like we haven't done anything! Since the last post here, we've updated the gameboard five times - improving some of the existing puzzle design and aesthetics, as well as adding 6 new puzzles. Most of the new puzzles were based on some level of prior knowledge. The notable exception being - the most recent of the player puzzles - 'trinih's puzzle'. I won't comment on the subject matter, as I don't want to veer into spoiler territory, but it combines being a reasonable challenge to solve, engaging subject matter, and a personal story – what more could you want?
Of the 6 new puzzles, only one has evaded resolution to date - 'mystica's artefact' in the mountains attractor. This unlocks after solving 'mystica's potion', and is supplemented by some additional hints available via The Seer. We suspected it would be a real challenge from the outset, and that's proven to be the case so far. And whilst it's great to see as many puzzles solved as possible, there is an upside to having unsolved puzzle on the gameboard. That is, that anybody can come in, at any point in time, and ascend to the wyfio summit. Will you figure it out?
Of course, the other mechanism that enables the possibility of the 'new ascent' is to keep creating new content. And on that note, we're aiming to have at least 70 available solves at the next update (v1.7). And there's still plenty of room for player puzzles too – so if you don't have your own puzzle yet, get in touch, and we'll see if we can work something through.
Finally, and away from the gameboard, we've been reaching new players. Most excitingly, we've appeared in the old-school-cool print media journal of the American Cryptogram Association, 'The Cryptogram' (thanks ZSA!), and the fresh, indie, cryptically creative digital/print hybrid ARG Digest (thanks lili ardat!).
